Heart to Heart Bridal sponsored a concert here in Rochester last night to promote our prom dresses and we took some Hannah S dresses with us.

PACE Center for Girls, Inc. held its third Love That Dress! event on August 31, and raised $120,000 for the non-profit group. House of Wu is honored to have been part of this successful night through our donations of brand-new detailed and fashionable dresses for women to wear for special events, including homecoming dances, proms and weddings. PACE reports that $5,000 will be used towards opening a brand new center.

Not only were women able to gain discounted formal wear, but this was a great way for the community to get a taste of the creative talents of local designers. House of Wu has 12 lines of formal gowns and dresses for all ages, and we have been offering these to our community and beyond for over 20 years.

900 people attended this year’s event, which helped raise over $120,000 for PACE of Lee County. A majority of the money raised is linked to dress donations from designers, including those from House of Wu. In total, our company donated 50 prom and homecoming gowns to PACE for the event, as well as 22 new bridal dresses.

Exclusive designs of formal gowns from one of our elite prom dress lines, Hannah S, were included among the choices during the silent auction. Racks of lavish gowns and beautiful dresses lined the ballroom as event-goers from around the community shopped for a few hours during a silent auction in search of their perfect go-to pieces. Some of the PACE girls were even able to take part of the event so that they could secure the most beautiful gowns for this school year’s homecoming and prom dances.

PACE is an organization that helps teen girls ages 12 to 18 who face domestic and academic problems, or who have endured substance abuse. We regularly participate in this particular event, and we are pleased to know that the money raised every year goes to helping girls within our own community get back on the right track.

At the same time, we hope that all participants had a fabulous night out, whether they found their ideal gown or were inspired by the utmost in fashion.       • When shopping for your wedding dress, sometimes it’s best to go with your gut.  Don’t overanalyze it.  After all, you don’t have time. 
      • A simpler gown makes alterations easier, especially when you’re in a real time crunch.  But, don’t choose a gown simply because it’s simple; being in a hurry doesn’t mean you can’t have your perfect dress.  If you want something that requires complex styling and alterations, it’s not impossible, even with tight schedules.  Just remember to have realistic expectations that fall within with your time frame. 

You have found the perfect homecoming dress and you think you are ready for the big homecoming dance. However, you may have neglected a major detail to your overall look: your shoes. The types of heels you wear with your beautiful gown can make or break your look, no matter what style you are going for. Follow these tips to pump up your look, and to find ways to avoid your homecoming style from going flat.

Heels come in a variety of different colors or prints, just like homecoming dresses do. It can be tempting to choose a plain shoe if you are planning to wear a detailed gown. Before you limit your choices, it is imperative that you consider your overall look and decide what will really complement your gown.

One of the biggest homecoming fashion no-no’s is wearing a black dress with the same color of heels. Remember that you are going to a fun event; wearing too much black can bring your look down and even make you appear washed out. Colored heels are acceptable with all types of black gowns. The event is free for brides-to-be looking for an economically priced dream dress.
